  • The Cartier Tank

    The Cartier Tank

    [thb_image full_width=”true” alignment=”center” image=”1854″]

The founder of the brand,Louis Cartier, invented the Cartier Tank in 1917. It is the brand’s most iconic model and got its name from the Renault FT-17, a British tank used during the first World War. The watch manages to be both rectangular and square, borrowing lines from its namesake.

By the early 1920’s the Tank’s popularity was rising. It was and still is a sophisticated, yet tough, unisex timepiece with a serious celebrity following.

    [thb_image full_width=”true” alignment=”center” image=”1855″]

The Cartier Tank MC is the most masculine version of this timepiece. “MC” stands for “Manufacture Cartier” and refers to the fact that inside the watch is an in-house made caliber 1904 MC automatic movement. Cartier originally released the 1904 MC movement a few years ago in the Cartier Calibre. Cartier also uses various versions of this same movement with slight changes for their chronograph watches, which also exist in both the Calibre and Tank collections. The 1904 MC was designed to be a robust base for a range of in-house made Cartier movements – which is why you might see it show up a lot in “Cartier MC” watches. The dial comes complete with a full scale of Cartier-style Roman numeral hour indicators and thin sword-shaped hands. The Cartier Tank MC watch has a flat caseback, but a curved top which appears to wrap around your wrist.

    [thb_image full_width=”true” alignment=”center” image=”1834″]

Vincent Van Gogh (30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist artist. His paintings and drawings include some of the world’s best known, most popular and most expensive pieces.

Although he sold only one painting during his lifetime, Van Gogh is now one of the most popular artists of all time. His canvases with densely laden, visible brushstrokes rendered in a bright, opulent palette emphasising Van Gogh’s personal expression brought to life in paint.

Each painting provides a direct sense of how the artist viewed each scene, interpreted through his eyes, mind, and heart. This radically idiosyncratic, emotionally evocative style has continued to affect artists and movements throughout the twentieth century and up to the present day, guaranteeing Van Gogh’s importance far into the future!

The Van Gogh Museum houses the world’s largest collection of artworks by Vincent van Gogh. The collection includes world famous paintings like Sunflowers, Almond Blossom, and The Potato Eaters.

  • Beginners Guide to Buying a Luxury Watch

Beginners Guide to Buying a Luxury Watch

    [thb_image full_width=”true” alignment=”center” image=”1717″]

Whether you are buying your first luxury watch or looking to add to your growing collection, picking the right one is crucial because it becomes a part of you. The timepiece you pick reflects your inner style and character. Here’s a guide to choosing a watch that best suits you:

    Style

One of the first things to consider before buying a luxury watch is what style watch you want to purchase! Pick a design, brand and size that fits into your wardrobe and lifestyle. Do not fall prey to the latest trends and fads that do not go with you personality. Be true to your style.

    Type Of Movement

The movement is the engine or the calibre of a watch. There are various movements that are created, however each of these movements fits into one of the 2 categories – Quartz – battery powered or Mechanical-uses an intricate system of crafted pieces that turn the hands of your clock at a perfectly tuned pace.

    Brand / Designer

When choosing a luxury brand or designer of the timepiece, there are two things to consider- the resale value of the brand today and if the brand is likely to increase in value over time, therefore making your resale value higher. In addition to these the iconic styles, the heritage and the different things that inspire the brand that you relate to.

    New or Pre-owned

Every brand is constantly working to improve every timepiece, the style, the performance of the movement and the materials. If you were to hold a model manufactured today vs. what was made even just a few years ago, you’ll feel a tremendous difference. If you are on a budget and you aren’t in a position to buy a new watch, a previously owned piece is a great option and often a great value. Just make sure you get a warranty to ensure it it is a genuine.

    Maintenance

Your watch will often need maintenance every now and then. This watch should last you a lifetime if well maintained. Make sure you ask about the cost of these services. Some watches could be expensive, so it is good to know these things before you purchase your watch.
